SAMC Foundation's Champions of Hope 5K 2012

Saturday, October 20, 2012, was a record-breaking day for SAMC Foundation's Champions of Hope.  The event, in its fifth year, is held in honor of survivors and fighters and in memory of Sandi McCool, the event's first chair who lost her battle with breast cancer last year. This year's event had more than 1,800 participants and raised more than $140,000 for the expansion of cancer services at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

Eagle Eye Outfitters was excited to participate, setting up a booth Friday and Saturday during the activities. Accessories Department Manager Jacob Walker and Head Buyer and Merchandiser Lynsey Bullock manned the booth on Friday night as participants and sponsors enjoyed a pasta dinner to "carb up" up for the race.

Saturday morning, Shoe Department Manager Nancy Turner and Assistant Store Manager Andy McDuffie represented Eagle Eye at our booth, displaying some of our pink ribbon products from vendors like The North Face and Columbia Sportswear.

Andy ran in the 5K, placing 4th in his age division! All race participants were encouraged to visit Eagle Eye Outfitters on Saturday and "show us their bibs" for a store discount.  All in all, it was  great day for a great cause. We are so glad that we could be a part of it!

We want to extend a big "thank you" to our vendor partner The North Face for allowing us to use their tent for the event!

How do you wear your pink?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it's great to see organizations far and wide raising awareness for breast cancer.  From the NFL to The North Face, people are celebrating survivors and fighting for fighters by wearing pink!

We, at Eagle Eye, are perfectly pink, too! Our most recent store display is a tribute to the women in our lives that have been affected by the disease.  We also hope to raise awareness and encourage women of the Wiregrass to self-test, screen early and stay active.

Several of our vendor partners are also championing the cause of breast cancer awareness by creating fabulous apparel lines for promoting pink.  Some of the proceeds for these lines are set aside for donation to organizations that search for cures and support women in the battle.

The North Face is active in raising support for breast cancer awareness and research.  This year, their pink ribbon line will benefit Boarding for Breast Cancer, an organization that raises awareness to young people about early detection.  Columbia Sportswear is also dedicated to raising funds for prevention programs through the National Breast Cancer Foundation with its Tested Tough in Pink line.  Here are some of The North Face & Columbia items we have in stock:

We also have some great pink ribbon jewelry arriving just in time to put in our booth that we'll have set up at SAMC Foundation's Champions of Hope 5K.  Join us this Friday 10/19 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 10/20 starting at 6:00 a.m. for the event! We'll have our booth set up with some of these great items from our vendors.  You can register at the event if you would like to participate in the race. For more information, visit the SAMC Foundation's event page by clicking HERE.

We hope to see you there!

Wiregrass Fields of Faith 2012

Last night, high school students and student athletes from across the Wiregrass participated in the 2012 Wiregrass Fields of Faith event.  Fields of Faith is a nationwide Fellowship of Christian Athletes event held on sports fields across the nation.  The goal is to encourage Christian students and student athletes to grow in their faith, read the Bible and share their faith with fellow students.

This year's Wiregrass event was held at Northcutt Field.  Eagle Eye Outfitters helped sponsor the event, and several employees took part.  Store Manager Dustin Lee welcomed students to the event and called out the names of area schools that were represented.  Students from each school responded with shouts and cheers to make their presence known.

Local praise band Subject to Change, led by Eagle Eye staff members, led the students in worship.  Three local high school students shared their testimonies and encouraged the students in attendance to live out their faith on and off the athletic field.  Wiregrass FCA Director Lonnie Cochran then encouraged the students with a message.

Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the event a success!
