Eagle Eye to host TOMS One Day Without Shoes Event

On Tuesday, April 16, TOMS Shoes and Eagle Eye Outfitters will ask Dothan to go barefoot for their annual One Day Without Shoes event.  Each year, TOMS encourages supporters to leave their shoes at home for one day to raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life.

Millions of children worldwide spend their days barefoot or without proper footwear, exposing them to injury and disease.  One Day Without Shoes is a concerted effort to bring attention to the need for shoes for these children and to connect local communities with ways to help.

Activities at Eagle Eye Outfitters will include barefoot games, foot painting, a shoe drop to local nonprofit organizations and an hourly door prize drawing featuring prizes from Eagle Eye and other area businesses.

A shoe drive is being held at Eagle Eye now through April 16.  New and gently used shoes can be donated during business hours at Eagle Eye, and each pair donated will equal one entry in the drawing held during the One Day Without Shoes event.  Shop barefoot on April 16 to earn an additional entry.

TOMS shoes was founded in 2006 by Blake Mycoskie after befriending children in Argentina and noticing that they had no shoes to protect their feet. Hoping to help, he created the shoe company and its “one for one” mission: for every pair of TOMS purchased, a pair is given to a child in need.  The One Day Without Shoes event is held annually with partners and participants across the world.
